Almost 140 years ago, the Torri family began producing merino wool for women’s clothing in Gandino, Italy. And Torri Lana is still doing so today. The wool was imported from Argentina, Australia and New Zealand.
Early 20se In the 20th century, Torri Lana was proud that its clothes were on sale at the famous Rinascente department store in Milan, Italy (which still exists today), where various items of clothing were displayed in the shop windows.
During the two world wars, the focus was less on fashion and more on military clothing.
In the 1970s, Torri Lana also began using other materials: cotton, linen and viscose. The company recruited the renowned textile designer and weaver Jole Gandolini, who had been working exclusively for Torri Lana since 1983. Thanks to him, a close collaboration developed with Frattini and Cassina.
As a result, Torri Lana has also been producing upholstery fabrics, mainly made of cotton, since 1980.
