Larsen Fabrics
In the 1930s, Sybil Colefax She made a name for herself as a renowned interior designer and became friends with, amongst others, the Duke of Windsor, Charlie Chaplin and Cole Porter. The British aristocracy also took an interest in her work.
All this led her to seek a collaboration with a designer who was well-known at the time: John Fowler. And so, in 1939, the company Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler was established, with its headquarters in Mayfair.
In 1973, the company decided to sell “off-the-shelf” furniture fabric collections.
A series of mergers and acquisitions followed in the 1990s. One of these was Jack Lenor Larsen (founded in 1952 and acquired in 1997, which also gave its name to the current company), another was the French company Manuel Canovas (founded in 1963 and acquired in 1998). The brands Larsen Fabrics, Manuel Canovas, Jane Churchill, Kingcome, Sibyl Colefax, John and Fowler are now part of Colefax and Fowler.
