Kvadrat

Kvadrat is pretty much the epitome of Scandinavian design. A Danish company renowned worldwide for its high-quality textile products.

Kvadrat was founded in 1968 by Poul Byriel and Erling Rasmussen in the Danish town of Ebeltoft. Both had a great passion for textiles and were able to capitalise at just the right moment on the emerging interest in modern design at the time.

In its early years, Kvadrat worked closely with well-known Danish designers such as Nanna Ditzel, Finn Sködt and Nina Koppel. And today, leading designers from all over the world collaborate with this successful international company.

Kvadrat, Sahco and Kvadrat Febrik (beautiful knitted fabrics) are part of Kvadrat. Kvadrat also had a long-standing partnership with Maharam.

Kvadrat is a standard-bearer for the Scandinavian design tradition, which excels in simplicity, functionality and the use of natural materials. This is evident from its extensive collection of upholstery fabrics and curtains. As a result, Kvadrat fabrics are used virtually everywhere: from offices to private homes.

The importance Kvadrat attaches to design is evident from its close collaboration with internationally renowned designers such as Patricia Urquiola, Ronan, Erwan Bouroullec, Alfredo Häberli, Doshi Levien, Giulio Ridolfo, Peter Saville, Pipilotti Rist, Thomas Demand and Olafur Eliasson.

As well as design and quality, Kvadrat places a strong emphasis on sustainability. It produces fabrics from recycled materials and invests in the use of renewable energy.

The best-known upholstery fabrics from Kvadrat include: Divina (woollen felt), Tonus (a slightly fluffy woollen fabric) and Hallingdal 65 (a coarsely woven woollen fabric).
