Vitra was founded in 1950 and has its headquarters in Weil am Rhein, Germany. Vitra is a world-renowned design brand that has made its name in architecture, design and furniture.

The founders of Willi and Erika Fehlbaum initially focused on the design of shop fronts, but at some point switched to furniture design when they met the American design duo Charles, Ray and Eames met. The Eames Lounge Chair and the Eames Plastic Chair remain icons of modernism.

As well as Eames, Vitra has collaborated with other famous designers such as Verner Panton, George Nelson, Alexander Girard and Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec.

In most cases, Vitra uses well-known upholstery fabrics such as Kvadrat. However, Vitra also has its own (small) collection of upholstery fabrics, which are used on their famous furniture designs.
